Mt Hutt closed, Canterbury  Mt Hutt has officially wrapped up its 2025 ski season earlier than hoped. Following a week of wild weather and strong winds forecast to continue into the weekend, the mountain team confirmed they will be closing for the 2025 ski season.

“It’s with great disappointment that, after this week’s challenging weather and looking ahead to the forecast for the weekend, we’ve made the difficult decision to close for the 2025 season,” the instagram post stated.

Despite the early finish, Mt Hutt described the past few months as “a massive and thoroughly enjoyable season.”Thousands of visitors made the trip up the mountain, and staff say they’ve loved every moment of sharing the slopes with guests from across New Zealand and beyond.

“We completely understand your disappointment as we feel it too! But with the windy days set to continue, we simply won’t be able to reopen this closing weekend. A huge thank you to all our amazing guests and staff for making this season such a memorable one,” the team said.
