If you want winter with character – real mountains, real snow, real people – the Chill Pass is one of the most iconic ways to ski New Zealand. Now entering its 28th season, the Chill Pass gives skiers and snowboarders access to 13 ski areas across the South Island and North Island, including some of the country’s best-loved club fields.
New Zealand’s club mountains are known for various terrain, a community spirit, uncrowded slopes, and that unmistakable Kiwi backcountry vibe. From Mackenzie magic to Canterbury classics, the Chill Pass puts you right in the heart of Aotearoa’s alpine culture.
And good news – 2026 Chill Season Passes are now available.
Chill Explore, based in Christchurch, has long been an adventure hub built on one philosophy: get people outdoors, whether that’s pedalling through the city or carving down a snowy face. Their passion for the mountains is at the core of the Chill Pass.
What Makes the Chill Pass Special?
The Chill Pass brings together a collection of truly unique mountains – each with its own flavour, terrain, and tight-knit community. From rope tows and nutcrackers to wide basins and classic kiwi lodges, the Chill network showcases the most authentic side of New Zealand skiing.
The 13 ski areas on the 2026 Chill Season Pass include:
Rainbow, Hanmer Springs, Mt Lyford, Fox Peak, Mt Dobson, Awakino, Porters Alpine Resort, Mt Cheeseman, Broken River, Mt Olympus, Temple Basin, Craigieburn, and Tukino.
These club fields aren’t just places to ski – they’re small communities that rely on skier support to keep the culture alive. If you get the chance, drop in for a few laps. They’re absolutely worth it. We’ve had unforgettable days at club fields over the years – the kind of days that remind you why skiing in NZ is so special.
