Mount Maunganui closed and has no access for the public until further notice following recent severe weather that caused large slips across the area. All mountain tracks and access points are included in the closure.
Mount Maunganui closed for all walking tracks, access points, and surrounding areas
Ongoing rainfall has destabilised parts of the area, increasing the risk of further slips and falling debris. As a precaution, all walking tracks, access points, and surrounding areas remain closed while damage assessments are carried out and conditions continue to be monitored.
To support public safety, fencing, barriers, and clear signage are being installed at key entry points. Security staff will also be present to help ensure the closure is respected. Visitors are advised not to enter the area or bypass closures, as these measures are in place to keep people safe.
The closure will remain in place while safety checks and any necessary remediation work are completed. Updates will be provided as conditions change. Please respect these safety measures.
We will keep you updated on the reopening.
