Artemis SailGP Team confirms entry to 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship.

Great news for SailGP’s expansion as Sweden’s Artemis SailGP joins the 2026 Championship

Swedish sailing powerhouse Artemis Racing has officially confirmed its entry into the Rolex SailGP Championship for the 2026 season under a new banner: Artemis SailGP Team. Artemis becomes SailGP’s 13th international team, completing the line-up for the 2026 season and bringing Sweden into the high-adrenaline global league.

Iain Percy to lead Artemis SailGP Team

The team will be led by CEO Iain Percy, Olympic gold medallist and former America’s Cup campaign manager for Artemis Racing. Backed by Swedish businessman Torbjörn Törnqvist, Artemis brings decades of innovation and heritage in professional sailing.

Percy said: “I’m proud to lead the Artemis SailGP Team as we return to the global stage with a clear focus – leveraging cutting-edge technology, a world-class line up, and the hard-won lessons from America’s Cup

SailGP is redefining the sport with unmatched speed, innovation, and fan engagement. Bringing Sweden into this elite championship is a milestone we’re proud of, and we’re determined to compete at the very highest level – pushing boundaries both on and off the water.”

Nathan Outteridge returns at the helm

A familiar face rejoins the line-up: Nathan Outteridge, Olympic gold medallist and one of SailGP’s most decorated drivers. Outteridge previously steered the Japan SailGP Team to early success and has held key roles across multiple teams.

Outteridge said: “Reuniting with Iain, Torbjörn and the Artemis team for this new chapter in SailGP is incredibly exciting. We’ve shared huge moments together in the past, and bringing that experience, trust and energy into this arena gives us a powerful foundation.

“This is a new challenge for all of us – a chance to showcase what Swedish sailing can achieve in one of the toughest and fastest stages in the world. We’re approaching this season with focus, ambition and the belief that we can set the standard for what’s possible in this championship.”

SailGP, expanding the Global League

The Swedish entry follows the recent additions of Red Bull Italy and Mubadala Brazil, adding fresh competition to an already stacked field.

SailGP CEO Russell Coutts said “We’re thrilled to welcome Artemis SailGP Team to the Rolex SailGP Championship. Bringing a remarkable depth of talent, experience, and professionalism that will undoubtedly elevate the competitiveness of the league, they’re expected to be a real contender from the very first race of the 2026 Season.”
