August 17, 2025 Sassnitz, Germany In a dramatic weekend turnaround, the France SailGP Team has secured their first event win of the 2025 season, pulling off a come-from-behind victory in Sassnitz to beat the BONDS Flying Roos (Australia) and Emirates GBR in a tense, tactical final. Driver Quentin Delapierre described the win as “super special,” after beginning the weekend in hospital following a rudder failure during practice.

The French crew regrouped to deliver a flawless performance when it mattered most, marking their return to the top of the SailGP podium for the first time since Season 3. They are now the sixth team to win an event this season. Also great to see Germany SailGP Team win the first race of their home event.

“We knew we had to deliver our best – tact, strategy, and yeah, a bit of luck,” said Delapierre. “It’s been a while since we’ve had a win. This one’s for the whole team.”

With the victory, France climbs to fifth in the overall standings, while Emirates GBR edges into third, pushing Spain into fourth. Australia and New Zealand remain locked in a tie at the top – both sitting on 61 points.
