Well, the 2025 season has only just finished and Cardrona’s already planning upgrades for Soho Basin 2026, after its first full season – and next year is looking even bigger. The mountain’s gearing up for next winter, and they have major upgrades underway this summer that will reshape how people ski the Soho area.
Resort Manager Heath Richmond show’s us what’s coming, from the new snowmaking dam to redesigned runs that make the most of Soho’s open terrain and natural flow. What began as an exciting addition to Cardrona’s backcountry is now turning into a fully connected ski experience.
Developments for Soho Basin 2026

The biggest project this summer is the completion of Soho’s new snowmaking dam. Once finished, it’ll allow the mountain to open earlier, stay consistent through the season, and maintain prime snow conditions from top to bottom.
“It’s going to make a huge difference for everyone,” Heath says. “We’ll have more reliable snow and a wider, better surface to work with.”
A new blue run for more flow & variety

A new blue run is being cut to sweep around the distinctive rock feature near the main basin. It offers new terrain and greater variation. Heath says it will feature one of the steepest groomed pitches at Soho, with a short, sharp drop that eases out into wide, open slopes.
“Once you’re through the top, it just opens up,” Heath explains. “You can go off-piste for a few fresh turns. It’s all about giving people more freedom to explore.”
The old summer road becomes a new ski run

That old summer road at the bottom, the one everyone thought was a ski trail – is being transformed into a new ski run. It’ll be wider, allow you to explore off-piste and then ski back to the lift. This change connects the entire lower section, turning what was once a return route into part of the fun. You’ll be able to carve right through to the bottom without missing a beat.
