The Remarkables 40 years celebrations 2025. From 26-28 September, the mountain is celebrating with a Spring Carnival packed full of retro vibes, music, and classic events that capture the heart of ski culture. From its first runs in 1985 to today, The Remarkables has been at the centre of New Zealand’s ski scene. Now, 40 years on, The Remarkables 40 years celebration is in full swing, it’s still as youthful and energetic as ever.
Highlights include the return of the legendary downtown Rail Jam on Brecon Street Steps (26 September), complete with rails, music, and riders going all in for one night only. On the slopes, expect an 80s Retro Run, family-friendly activities, live music at the Ice Bar, and even a grassroots free-ride competition to close out the weekend.

Friday, 26 September
Family fun with face painting, a scavenger hunt, and a bouncy castle – 9am to 4pm
Down Town Rail Jam, Brecon Street Steps from 5pm
Saturday, September 27
OOSC Retro Run – dig out your best 80s ski gear – from 1pm
Ice Bar tunes with an 80s throwback from 12:30pm
Alumni Crew gathering with drinks and nibbles from 4.30pm
Sunday, September 28
A scenic BBQ at Lake Alta, including a ski down the chutes 11am till 1.30pm
Grassroots Freeride competition showcasing local talent from 8.30am
Ice Bar music continues with more classic 80s hits from 1.30pm
